Detailed Itinerary
HANOI – BAI DINH – TRANG AN – MUA CAVE – HANOI
Morning – Hanoi → Bai Dinh Pagoda
Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel or accommodation in Hanoi’s Old Quarter between 07:00 and 07:40.
Leave Hanoi by modern tourist bus or limousine bus and travel approximately 110 km towards Ninh Binh. The journey takes you through the peaceful countryside of northern Vietnam, with green rice fields, villages and rural landscapes along the way.
Enjoy a short break on the way before continuing to Bai Dinh Pagoda Complex.
Bai Dinh Pagoda Complex
Arrive at Bai Dinh Pagoda, one of Vietnam’s most impressive Buddhist complexes.
Set against Dinh Mountain, the complex combines monumental Buddhist architecture with dramatic limestone scenery and views over the surrounding valleys.
Explore some of its most important highlights, including the long corridors of Arhat statues, large bronze bells and impressive Buddhist images.
Among the highlights are approximately 500 stone Arhat statues, the giant bronze bells and the impressive statues of Quan Yin and Gautama Buddha.
The visit provides an introduction to Vietnamese Buddhist traditions as well as the architectural scale of one of Ninh Binh’s most important religious sites.
Lunch – Local Vietnamese Cuisine
Around midday, enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant featuring a selection of Vietnamese dishes and regional specialties.
After lunch, continue to Trang An.
Afternoon – Trang An Scenic Boat Trip
At approximately 13:30, arrive at the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, a spectacular area of limestone mountains, rivers, caves and green valleys.
Board a traditional sampan rowing boat and begin a peaceful journey through the waterways.
The boat follows the river between towering limestone karsts and through a series of natural caves. Depending on the selected route and operating conditions, the journey may include caves such as Lam Cave, Vang Cave and Dai Cave, as well as stops or views of spiritual sites including Cao Son Temple, Suoi Tien Temple and Vu Lam Temple.
The quiet pace of the boat journey allows you to appreciate the dramatic landscape and the relationship between the waterways, limestone mountains and surrounding countryside.
Mua Cave & Ngoa Long Mountain
After the Trang An boat trip, continue to Mua Cave.
Climb the stone steps towards the summit of Ngoa Long Mountain, one of Ninh Binh’s most famous viewpoints.
The climb is moderately challenging, particularly in hot weather, but the panoramic reward at the top is spectacular. From the summit, enjoy sweeping views across the rice fields, winding waterways and limestone karsts of Ninh Binh.
Take time for photographs before descending and returning to the vehicle.

An Excellent Day Trip from Hanoi
This was one of the best day trips we took during our holiday in Vietnam. The journey from Hanoi was comfortable, and the itinerary offered a wonderful mix of culture, nature and adventure.
Bai Dinh Pagoda was fascinating, and I really enjoyed learning about Vietnamese Buddhism and the history of the complex. The boat trip in Trang An was incredibly peaceful, with spectacular limestone scenery and amazing caves along the way.
The climb up Mua Cave was quite a workout, but the view overlooking the rice fields and surrounding mountains was outstanding. Our guide kept everyone informed and made sure the group stayed on schedule without feeling rushed.
Excellent value for money and a memorable experience. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hanoi.

Beautiful Scenery and Fantastic Organization
What an amazing experience! Ninh Binh is absolutely beautiful, and this tour allowed us to see three of its most impressive attractions in one day.
I particularly loved Trang An. Sitting on the traditional rowing boat, surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and passing through natural caves, was such a unique experience. The scenery felt almost unreal.
Bai Dinh was equally impressive, with its enormous temple complex and peaceful atmosphere. Mua Cave offered the most spectacular views of the entire day, although I recommend wearing comfortable shoes for the stairs!
Our tour guide was enthusiastic, helpful and very attentive to the group. The transportation was comfortable, and the whole day ran smoothly. A fantastic experience and one of my favourite memories of Vietnam!

A Perfect Combination of Culture and Nature
We really enjoyed this full-day excursion from Hanoi. The itinerary was thoughtfully planned and gave us a great introduction to the cultural and natural highlights of Ninh Binh.
Bai Dinh Pagoda was magnificent, and the scale of the complex was beyond our expectations. Trang An was the most relaxing part of the day. The boat journey through the caves and along the river was beautiful and offered plenty of opportunities for photography.
We also enjoyed the hike at Mua Cave. Reaching the top required some effort, but the breathtaking view across the valley made it worthwhile.
Our guide was professional, informative and always happy to answer questions. The driver was also careful and punctual. Everything was organized very well, and the price was reasonable for what was included. Highly recommended!
